Summary

Difficult but uplifting read! Hard to believe that these 3 sisters survived Auschwitz’s and the death March。 They were able to travel to Israel after the war and have productive and somewhat happy normal lives。

I found this to be a disappointing book in the Tattooist Trilogy。 While the story of the sisters’ experience is remarkable, the story-telling felt trite and forced。 The dialogue between the sisters seemed unrealistic, and the whole book read like a timeline of things that happened, without much depth。 There was FAR too much telling the reader how the characters were feeling, and not nearly enough showing。 I don’t feel right giving such an important story a poor rating, so I’m leaving it unrated。

Another excellent story from a different perspective。

DNF I've been listening to this for several days。 While I thought maybe it was just me, upon looking at reviews, I'm not the only one thinking the sisters are written too "cutesy"。 The youngest is 15 and her thoughts, neediness, and actions are that of a 5 year old。 Not sure what happened here with Morris。 Her first book was incredible。 DNF I've been listening to this for several days。 While I thought maybe it was just me, upon looking at reviews, I'm not the only one thinking the sisters are written too "cutesy"。 The youngest is 15 and her thoughts, neediness, and actions are that of a 5 year old。 Not sure what happened here with Morris。 Her first book was incredible。 。。。more

Three Sisters by Heather Morris is the third in the Tattooist of Auschwitz series。 It follows three Slovakian sisters, Livia, Magda, and Cibi, and is based on a true story。 The sisters made a promise to their father to always stay together and take care of one another。 The girls have to live through WWII and the holocaust, they are taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau。 This is a deep book that takes on a very heavy topic but does it in a beautiful way。 You will for sure want to have plenty of tissues han Three Sisters by Heather Morris is the third in the Tattooist of Auschwitz series。 It follows three Slovakian sisters, Livia, Magda, and Cibi, and is based on a true story。 The sisters made a promise to their father to always stay together and take care of one another。 The girls have to live through WWII and the holocaust, they are taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau。 This is a deep book that takes on a very heavy topic but does it in a beautiful way。 You will for sure want to have plenty of tissues handy when reading this book you will not want to miss。 Thanks to St。 Martin's Press and NetGalley for the eARC。 All opinions shared are influenced by nothing other than my own reading experience。 。。。more

I love historical fiction and have read a lot of WWII novels。 This one was different。 The focus was the sisters with the holocaust and such somewhat in the background of the story。 The story dragged at points but I still enjoyed it。

It's so hard to rate a book like this。 Three strong brave women with an inspirational and heartbreaking story that I am so blessed and thankful to be able to read。 It's so hard to rate a book like this。 Three strong brave women with an inspirational and heartbreaking story that I am so blessed and thankful to be able to read。 。。。more

“The sisters share a hug that is about so much more than physical comfort。 It is a bond that crosses time and space, which hurdles their pain and dulls their suffering。 They each implicitly understand that mere distance will not break their bond”。

Heather Morris knocks it out of the park yet again! the details and research and consideration she takes when retelling these stories is SO thorough and the style she writes them in makes me want to consider writing for a living too。 i wish it didn’t go by so fast, but I suppose that’s when you know it’s good。 would recommend

Colleen

I love that these are true stories told to preserve the stories of those who suffered WWII。 Good read。

I am extremely grateful to read the story of the Meller sisters。 I have read all of Heather Morris’s books so far and each one has touched me in different ways。 I will never lose my interest in hearing the stories of those who were affected by WW2。 The strength & hope these sisters share is phenomenal and it made me consider what I truly am grateful for。 Please do not hesitate in reading this!

Excellent read, loved how the sisters took care of each other, and also how they made it out alive。 Also a sad book too。

I listens to this book。 My only complaint is that all of the Hebrew names and words were no pronounced properly。 Even the basic Hebrew Chanukah prayer and word Shabbat was not pronounced correctly。

Karen Barson-Wright

As wonderful as her other two that I’ve read。 Compelling and heart breaking but overall triumphant。 Highly recommend

Heather Morris has done it again with her great research and story telling。 This Auschwitz book #3 was just as captivating and sad as the first two。 As the title indicates, the story of 3 sisters, that survived Auschwitz。

You need a strong stomach to read this。 An almost unrelentingly bleak, desperate, story of three Jewish sisters who are sent from Slovakia to Auschwitz。 Can I read any more of this? Oh my good God this book was devastatingly beautiful。 Cibi, Livi, and Magda are so brave and courageous to share their story and make sure the world never stops talking about the most heinous and systematic genocide the world has ever seen, and Morris was the perfect person to tell their story to to get it out into the world。 I let some tears slip every couple pages。 I love how the story was told beyond the sisters’ time at Auschwitz and we got to follow them into their full lives after the war Oh my good God this book was devastatingly beautiful。 Cibi, Livi, and Magda are so brave and courageous to share their story and make sure the world never stops talking about the most heinous and systematic genocide the world has ever seen, and Morris was the perfect person to tell their story to to get it out into the world。 I let some tears slip every couple pages。 I love how the story was told beyond the sisters’ time at Auschwitz and we got to follow them into their full lives after the war ended。 10/10 would recommend!!! 。。。more

I heard an interview with Heather Morris about this book, I knew I had to read it。 Once again her writing, based on fact touches the soul and pulls on the heart strings。 Cibi, Magda & Livi made a promise to their father, that no matter what, they would look after each other。 Little did they know what was ahead for them。 The story is predominantly about their survival in Auschwitz, the death marches and finally their lives in Israel and finding hope again。 These three sisters are extraordinary wo I heard an interview with Heather Morris about this book, I knew I had to read it。 Once again her writing, based on fact touches the soul and pulls on the heart strings。 Cibi, Magda & Livi made a promise to their father, that no matter what, they would look after each other。 Little did they know what was ahead for them。 The story is predominantly about their survival in Auschwitz, the death marches and finally their lives in Israel and finding hope again。 These three sisters are extraordinary woman, never once faltering in their love for each other and the promise they made to their father。 Their time in Auschwitz was brutal, as it was for all who set foot in the place。。 Their life after Auschwitz was not easy either, tormented by guilt, plagued with memories that haunt their days and nights。。 but interestingly they all believe in talking about it。 The only way to heal was to talk, to let their husbands, also survivors know of the horrors they endured。 To let their children know of the atrocities and life they lived before they were born。 At times this book is very hard to read, a tear ran down my cheek many a time throughout this book。 I am a glad this story was written。。 people need to be reminded that crimes if this nature do not have a place in this world … This book also reminds us that there is hope 。。 the love we share for one another is our kryptonite and nothing can destroy it… 。。。more

Another very powerful story。 Written a bit too simplistically, however。

The story of Three Sisters emcompasses the lives of 3 sisters from WWII to present day。 It's proves that strength, hope and love can conquer evil。 The story moves from just before the concentration camps, their experiences, their survival and how they arrived to Israel。 I enjoyed this immensely and I like books that provide closure。 This book gives you all that! This one didn’t do a lot for me。 I really enjoyed her first two books but this one won’t leave a lasting impression。 It started off pretty good but the second half of the book really dragged for me。 I found I was almost skimming the final few chapters just to be done with the book。 It wasn’t that it wasn’t a good story, it was, but I couldn’t find myself to love these characters。

Nan Cohen

I read this book and also listen to the audio very good。 The reader was excellent。

Mary Conway

A propulsive story, that's unfortunately marred at times by very workmanlike prose。 In the hands of a better writer, this would be spellbinding。 The camps section is probably the most extraordinary part of it - she captures the ordinariness of evil。 A propulsive story, that's unfortunately marred at times by very workmanlike prose。 In the hands of a better writer, this would be spellbinding。 The camps section is probably the most extraordinary part of it - she captures the ordinariness of evil。 。。。more

I attempted to read Three Sisters after reading the other two books inthe trilogy。 I got halfway there and just had to stop。 The book wasawful, terrifying, horrendous, disgusting and beyond belief。I gave Three Sisters a 4 rating for the writing style and and becauseit is a true story。 There are two survivors。I believe that my aversion to the book is because I kept personalizingit。 Maybe reading one book on how the Nazis' treated the Jews wouldhave been doable, but not three。 I attempted to read Three Sisters after reading the other two books inthe trilogy。 I got halfway there and just had to stop。 The book wasawful, terrifying, horrendous, disgusting and beyond belief。I gave Three Sisters a 4 rating for the writing style and and becauseit is a true story。 There are two survivors。I believe that my aversion to the book is because I kept personalizingit。 Maybe reading one book on how the Nazis' treated the Jews wouldhave been doable, but not three。 。。。more

It is hard for me to give anything less than 5 stars on historical fiction based on personal experiences but I felt that Morris's writing was not to the standards that I have come to enjoy。 I hope that she will continue to give voice to so many amazing survivors。 It is hard for me to give anything less than 5 stars on historical fiction based on personal experiences but I felt that Morris's writing was not to the standards that I have come to enjoy。 I hope that she will continue to give voice to so many amazing survivors。 。。。more

What an excellent read。 The power of the human spirit unbelievable! Amazing story teller - very vivid and real。 So sad but needed to be written so that we will never forget!

Absolutely fantastic as usual from Heather Morris。 An amazing insight into life in Auschwitz during the holocaust。 Simultaneously heart breaking while being totally gripping。 I love the way her books are written。
